How recipients consent to receive SMS messages from BIP
Last updated: June 30, 2026
Overview
BIP Health ("BIP") is a healthcare credentialing platform used by medical groups, clinics, and hospitals (each, a "Customer") to credential and onboard their providers. BIP sends SMS messages on behalf of Customers to healthcare providers and their authorized administrative staff. This page describes how those recipients consent to receive SMS from BIP and what messages they receive.
How Recipients Consent to Receive SMS
BIP's SMS messages are sent only to healthcare providers (and their delegated administrative staff) who have given prior express consent to receive them. Opting in to SMS is always optional. It is never a condition of being credentialed, of creating or using a BIP account, or of receiving any BIP service. Providers who do not opt in continue to receive every communication through other channels (email and in-app) with no effect on their credentialing. Express consent is captured through the following workflow:
SMS consent is optional and separate from your account. You can use BIP and complete credentialing without ever opting in to text messages. Consent is not bundled with sign-up, and the consent checkbox is never pre-selected — you opt in only by your own affirmative action.
Provider opts in on the SMS sign-up page
A provider gives express written consent by visiting BIP's opt-in page at www.biphealth.app/sms-signup, entering their mobile number, and checking a consent box that is unchecked by default. The box discloses what messages they will receive, that message frequency varies, that message and data rates may apply, and the STOP and HELP keywords, and it links to this SMS Policy, the Privacy Policy, and Terms. No number receives SMS until this opt-in is completed.
Consent is recorded as an auditable event
Each opt-in is logged with the exact consent language the provider agreed to, the date and time, and the page where consent was given. This record is retained as proof of consent. Providers are never added to the SMS program by a third party without their own opt-in.
First message confirms enrollment and includes opt-out
The first SMS a recipient receives from BIP identifies the sender as "Bip" and includes opt-out instructions ("Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help. Msg & data rates may apply."). Recipients may opt out at any time by replying STOP.
What Messages Recipients Receive
BIP sends only credentialing-related, account, and service messages. BIP does not send marketing or promotional SMS.
- Credentialing information requests (e.g., requests to supply or update licenses, DEA, COI, NPI, board certifications)
- Document signature invitations and reminders
- Status updates on in-progress credentialing packets and payor enrollments
- Account verification codes and security alerts
